Understanding the real value of things !!!

To know the real value of 10- 20- or 30 years.... ask a couple who just divorced.

To know the value of 4 years.... ask a newly graduate student.

To know the value of 1 year.... ask a student who failed his end of year exams.

To know the value of an hour.... ask some lovers waiting to meet.

To know the value of a minute.... ask someone who just missed his train or airplane.

To know the value of a second or a fraction of a second.... ask an athlete who won the gold, bronze,or silver medal.

To know the true value of a friend.... lose one.

  1. How inspiring!!! I see the message in this as a call to "do good" and be caring.
I think the title should read, "Understanding
the value of time". I guess the author is reminding us that time is invaluable, Once it passes, there is no going back. One should appreciate that, and make a conscious effort to live each day as if it's your last and/or the end of the world, and do good while we can?

I wish that we can all do that..i.e be appreciative and sensitive all the time.
Perhaps some people somewhere can do that (a Tibetan monk?) unfortunately for anyone who lives in the real world, The brutal reality dictates that we are mostly lost in the practicalities of the "rat race" (i.e we are mostly slaves to the money , then we die).
I think the following excerpt from Kipling's "if" is well suited to make my point...

"If you can fill the unforgiving minute
with sixty seconds' worth of distance run-
yours is the earth and everything that's in it
    And-which is more-you'll be a Man,my son!"

A recipy for a heart attack if you ask me, but .....reality?
