FANATISM AND SHORT-SIGHTEDNESS AT THEIR BEST ......

Some  readers  and  friends , expressed  lately  their  astonishment  as  to  the  fact , that  I  hardly  mentioned  or  spoke  about  the  new  phenomenon  of  ISIS  or  their  Islamic  caliphate , expanding  to  many  Middle-Eastern  countries  and  regions . Aspiring  to  become  a  nation  ruled  under  strict  Islamic  savagery  and  a  full  system  of  apartheid , toward  all  minorities  and  different  ethnic groups , not  to  mention  Musslems  who  do  not  agree or  blindly surrender and follow .


The  embedded  allusions  in  some  remarks , were  about  a  certain  complicity  between  Sunnis and Sunnism , as  it  happened  some  six  decades  ago , that  I  was  born  to  a  Musslem  father ( a  very  liberal  one , I  have  to  mention )  and  the  fact  that  my  name  "Omar" is  a  typical  characteristic  Sunni  name .


I  have  made  it clear , throughout  my  many  writings , how  I  really  feel  about  these  pseudo  Islamic  thugs , their  intolerable  beastly  crave  for  killing  and  brutality , all  hidden  behind  the  cover  of  musslems  going  back  to  their  roots . Their  hate  of  everything  and  everyone , not  strictly  belonging  to  their  blind  dogmas and  norms  is  unequaled  in  modern  history  except  maybe  in  very  few  cases   i.e. ;  the  Zionists of  Israel , or  the  Khmer- Rouge  in  Kampuchea .


The  real  reason  I  haven't  written  more  about  these people or their  reign , is  mainly  due  to  the  fact , that  still , and  in  all  honesty , I  don't  understand  or  claim  to  grasp this  enigmatic  phenomenon , how  did  they  come  to  be , where  did  they  come  from , where  did  they  train , and  who  really  funded , supervised  and  directed  these  individuals , how  did they acquire all  of  their civil governors . Theories  are  many , but  still  not  clear  nor  fully convincing .


I  cannot  come  to  terms  with  the  idea , that  few  thousands  brain-washed  fanatic  kids , recruited  hastily  from  different Arab and European countries , even from Canada ,  the  U.S.  and  Australia , people  who  cannot in  most  instances  speak the  same language or communicate among  each  other properly ,  all  these  people  who  traveled and  met  separately  in  most  cases , in  the  past  few  years , suddenly  form , train  and  emerge  as  one  of  the  most  formidable  and  unbeatable  armies  of  our  times , conquering  towns , cities , whole  populations  and  regimes , fighting  and  winning  simultaneously  on  many  fronts !!!


They  surely  benefit  from  private/official  Sunni  Arab  money , and  they  are  enjoying  a  general  Sunni  complicity for  sure ,  but  isn't  it  as  well  the  case  of  most  countries  and  powers  of  the  world  ?  America  in  a  sort  of  wait and see  game , Europe's occasional shy criticism  of  ethnic  brutality , Russian  and  Chinese  total  indifference , even  Israelis are keeping  their  utmost silence so as to prove their theory of  the  impossibility of coexistence  between races and  religions, thus  enforcing  their  own racial purity in Israel ,  practically  everyone  is  an  accomplice of  some  sort .


What  are  their  final  plans  and  projects  for  the  area , and  for  how  long  are  they  projected  to  rule , I'm  not  sure and  I cannot  say, but  what  I'm  certain  of ; is  that  the  Sunni  and  Arab world  stands  a  better  chance  of  waking-up , with  the  I.S.  ascent  and  decline , a  chance  to  reform  and  changing  the  course of  existing  religiosity , its  dogmas  and  applications . It  could  be  a  unique  window  for  all  musslems , Sunnis  and  Shiias , Arabs  or  non  Arabs , to  shake  themselves- up , reconcile  with  the  world  and  modernity , and  finally  join  the  21st  century ,  or  face absolute  destruction  and  annihilation , something  their  enemies  revel  in , and  they  are stupidly  and  obstinately  offering  their  enemies  the  pleasures  of  watching  them  self destruct .




A  plague  destroying  what  most  cultured  Arabs   and  intellectuals  hoped  and  looked  for , throughout  the  last  century . My  many  thanks  to  you  all .    

THE ROBIN WILLIAMS .....

In  our   parts  of  the  world  we  had  a  popular  saying , to  describe  older  age  and  wisdom ; "older  than  you  by  a  day , more  knowledgeable  by  a  year ."


Robin  Williams  decided  to  finish  his  life , and  his  inspiring  career  , so  as  to , probably  knowingly  and  willingly  , try  to  join  the  other  side ,  or  at  least  finish  with  this  side .  I  don't  think  he  seriously   believed  in  other  sides , same  as  many  of  us .


Robin  simply  decided  to  go  somewhere  else , wherever  that  might  be , and  if  it's  nowhere , that's  fine  as  well . It's  surely  painful , for  all  left  behind ,  his  loved  ones  and  his  loving  fans .  Good  comedians  would  feel  that  even  more .


He  supposedly  was  living  through  some  depressive  state , and  regardless  of  how  severe  his  case  might  have  been , he  as  some  of  us  just  decide  at  certain  point  in  time  to  go , and  sooner  than  later .  Robin  for  one  surely  decided  to  try  and  have  a  peek  at  it  all  , sooner  than  later .


What  an  intelligent  and  courageous  decision  that  is  !!  when  one  clearly  decides .  In  all  honesty  I'm  speechless ,  at  this  remarkable  man , during  his  life ,  and  in  his  death-wish  when  he  deemed  it  appropriate ,  a  courageous  and  inspiring  person .


So  long  Mr.  Williams ,  let  us  know , in  your  typical  humor ,  if  you  find  something  interesting .

WE DO ......

Yes  we  do  have  an  absolute  moral  and  political  and  even  military  responsibility , and  an  obligation  towards  what  is  taking  place  in  Iraq , Palestine  and  to a  lesser  degree  in  Syria  and  Lebanon .


We  loudly  and  proudly  invaded  Iraq , deposed  the  then  dictator ,  and  promised  better  life , better  politics  and  governance  and  rebuilding  of  the  country ,  while  in  fact , and  since  the  fall   of  Saddam ,  the  country  has  steadily  been  deteriorating  and  going  down  in  all  aspects , while  under  our  direct  occupation  or  after .


In  Palestine , and  under  the  Israeli  brutal  direct  occupation  that's  been  the  longest  recorded  in  modern  history , and  the  absurd  medieval  blockade  of  Ghaza ,  all  with  our  implicit  and  unquestioning  political  backing , billions upon  billions of  our  Dollars ,  and  unconditional military  support .


I  will  not  speculate  nor  go  yet , into  who's  responsible for , or  who  might  have  created  or  trained , and  financed  Isis  hordes  of  blood  thirsty  animals , and  why  do  we  find  ourselves  knowingly  or  not , in  a  very  difficult  dilemma , against  a  vehemently  suspicious  Sunni  world , observing  if  we  decide  to  attack  Isis  or  keep  our  complicit , quiet  attitude .


But  surely  it  is  our  responsibility ,  morally  and  factually , to  attend  to  this  impossible  and  barbaric  ethnic  and  religious  cleansing  situation , this  new/old   Musslem  apartheid  if  you  wish ,  while  it's  something  the  Israelis have  been  doing  and  continue  to  do , under  different  headings  and  slogans  in  Palestine .


Do  we  keep  our  very  suspicious  and  hypocritical  silence in  both  cases ??  Do  we  just  suffice  ourselves  with  our  duplicity  by  making  useless , inefficient  and  serving  no  purpose   statements ??  Do  we  conclude  it  all  by  sending  few  airdrops  of  water  and  food  to  a  starving  and  dehydrated  families  and  kids ??  Didn't  our  inaction  save  the  Syrian  President  and  his  brutal  dictatorship  way  before  Isis  and  other  crazy  groups  took  over ,  when  a  semi  democratic , secular  and  peaceful  opposition  was  possible ??  Do  we  not  keep  a  continuous and  duplicitous  blind  eye  about  all  atrocities  taking  place  in  Palestine  and  the  region ???


Are  we  so  horrendously  detached , untouchable ,  cold  calculating  people  with  our  system ??  Are  we  reduced  to  be  only  strategists  of  odd  schemes  and  plans ??  Strategies  that  mostly  will  not  serve  our  long  term  interests , only  the  interests  of  others ;  the  so  called  allies  and  their  Neocons  policies ,  that  are  on  a  clear  destruction  mission  of  all  their  neighbors , for their  own  superiority  and  expansion .




Is  it  really  our  long  term  policy ? And  are  we  honestly  all  convinced  of  it  ??  Let  the  times  tell us .  My  usual  many  thanks  for  listening .

PARALLELISM ........

A  good  read  and  analysis  of  the  current  situation  in  many  parts  of  the  Middle-East , will  show  some  surprising  parallels in  behavior ,  whether  from  the  governing  authorities  or  the  revolting  populations .


There  seems  to  be  a  close  correlation  between  the  Israeli  imperialism  and  their  expansionist    interests , and  the  greedy  and  brutal  interests  of  the  Syrian  regime , as well  as  the  pseudo  sectarian  regime  in  Iraq , where  all  three  are  totally failing  their  responsibilities  and  obligations  towards  their  people , whether  under  occupation  or  not , on  the  contrary  exploiting ,  suppressing  and  dehumanizing  the  populace  is  the  norm .


In  most  cases  of  the  Syrian , Iraqi  or  Israeli  scenes, the  same  scenarios  took  place ,  that  led  to  popular  uprisings  resulting  in  cruel  usage  of  arms , brutality  and  violence by  both  the  governing  and  the  governed .


It's  mostly  about  dignity  and  the  will  to  live  freely , be  able  to  attend  to  basic  needs  of  protecting  one's  family  from  humiliating  treatments  by  the  authorities , depriving  whole  communities , towns  and  villages  of  their  livelihood , turning  their  future  into  living  hell  experiences , these  scenes  were  and  continue  to  be  the "ordre  du jour"  in  all  three  countries . Israel  in  it's  continuous occupation  of  Palestinian  lands , Syria  under  the  brutal  hegemony  of  the  Assad  family , and  Iraq  with  it's  failing  newly  created  sectarian Shiite  driven  regime .


The  three  behaviors led  to  revolts , and  all  three  countries  are  fully  responsible  for  delivering  these  originally  peaceful revolts  to  the  hands  of  Islamist  thugs  or  professional  terrorists , the  three  regimes  worked  deliberately  to  move  the  game  from  peaceful  angry  people , and  hand  it  over  to  blind  extremism,  The  three  believed  the  world  body  would  sympathize  with  their  case , by  falsely claiming ; they  are  fighting  terrorism , the  three  regimes  proved  guilty  of  creating and  intentionally  harboring  such  groups  of  professionals .


The  three  above  mentioned  regimes  are  in  total  violation  of  international  laws , by  using  disproportionate  force  and  brutality , jailing , torturing  and  killing the  people  they  govern , attacking and  destroying  homes , hospitals , schools  and  all  prayer  houses .


The  people  of  Syria , Iraq  or  under  Israeli  regimes  are  deliberately  and  purposely subjected  to   terrorism  and  extremism  instead  of  moderate  leaderships , because  moderates  in  the  three  countries  have  been  trying  for  ever  to  achieve  some  compromises , and  they  all  only  received  humiliation , rejections and  brutality .


The  three  regimes  share  this  very  dangerous  aspect  of  total  supremacy  and  invincibility , thus  giving  themselves  the  absolute  wright  to  anything  and  everything  to  feed  their  interests and  heinous hegemony .


For  real  peace , the  three  regimes  must  be  stopped , demilitarized , and  placed  under  some  sort  of  international  observance . Meaning  a  partial  or  complete  suspension  of  their  national  sovereignty , for  years  to  come .


  U.S.  laws , common  sense ,  as well as  all  international  legislation , require  that "No  security  assistance  may be  provided  to  any  country  the  government  of  which  engages  in  a  consistent  pattern  of  gross  violations of internationally recognized human rights." The  three mentioned countries  under  their  actual  leaderships  are  continually  and  systematically  abusing  the  law ,  and  the  United  States  government , and  some  of  its  allies are  systematically  ignoring  their  own  laws . 




What  is  taking  place  in  either of  these countries  is  no  little  joke , it  is  destroying  whole  populations , the  world  and  more  specifically  the  U.S.  ought to  look  at  their  commitments  more  objectively and  effectively ,   my  usual  many  thanks  for  listening .
 

MARK TWAIN'S LEGACY ....

Back  in  1900 , Mark  Twain , commenting  on  the U.S  war  against  the  Philippines   concluded  that  " We  do  not  intent  to  free , but  to  subjugate  the  people  of  the  Philippines..... And  so  I am  an  anti-imperialist."  In  his best  sarcastic  narrative  he  continues  with  a short  story  entitled  THE  WAR  PRAYER ; " O  Lord  our  God , help  us  to  tear  their  soldiers  to  bloody  shreds  with  our  shells ; help  us  to  cover  their  smiling  fields  with  the  pale  forms  of  their  patriotic  dead ; .... help  us  to  wring  the  hearts  of  their  unoffending  widows  with  unavailing  grief ; help  us  to  turn  them  out  roofless  with  their  little  children  wandering  and  unfriended  in  the  wastes  of  their  desolated  land ."

It  should  be  said  at  once , that  along  side  this  well  intended  and  very  sarcastic  message  by  Mr.  Twain ; history  is  repeating  itself  with  the  newly  acquired  Israeli  imperialistic  impulses  and  tendencies , driving  their  politics  and  wars . Extreme  right  wing  policies , imperialistic  ambitions , strategic  annexation  calculations  plus  the  usual  assumptions  of  racial  superiority .

The  history  of  regular  Israeli  interventions  and  wars  with  all  their  neighbors  , and  the  treatment  of  their  under-occupation  populations , which  is  continuing  to  the  present  day , has  been  very  bloody , very  cruel  and  disappointing , to  say  the  least , unless  judged  through  an  imperialistic  and  expansionist  perspective .

It  is  difficult  and  very  sad  at  times , not  to  conclude  that , annexation  of  the  Palestinian  territories  and  the  creation  of  one  democratic  country ,  could  have  constituted  the  best  solution  for  both  people , and  all  concerned  in  the  Middle-East and  the  world . Unfortunately , demographic  calculations  and  racial  purity  and  superiority  presented  a very  serious  obstacle , and  is  still  preventing  such  a  solution ,  while  the  establishment  of  two  separate  independent  states  is  still  feasible , it  is politically  refused  by  Israel's  governing  neocons , and  mostly  for  expansionist  calculations  and  dreams .

As  for  the  United  States , I  believe  that  we  ought  to  obstinately  enforce  our  brokerage  efforts , impose  a  fair  deal  on  both  entities ,  clean-up  that  situation  once  and  for  all , or  simply  get  out  of  there  and  stay  out ,  we  surely  have  the  means  to  do  it , if  we  can  find  the  will .

I'm  again  on  the  same  topic , but  honestly  there's  no  escape , as  it is  such  a  cruel  and  an  unjust  everlasting  situation .....  where  every  one  of  us  ought  to  feel  a  bit  ashamed  for  our  silence  and  hypocrisy .  Israel  continues  to  try  and  portray  itself  as  a   kind  of  great , peaceful  Switzerland  , whereas  they  are  in  fact  a  major  and  very  dangerous  expanding  world  imperial  power .

ARE WE , OR ARE WE NOT .......

Is  the  United  States  an  empire  or  not ??  Many  American  and  world  thinkers  debate  this  issue ,  surely  all  our  military , political  and  economical  rhetoric  ,  activities  and  exertion  of  influence , in  our  last  one  hundred and  fifty  years  at  least  , and  till  our  very  near  present , indicate  that  we  strongly  believe  ourselves  to  be  an  empire  of  some  sort , or  at  least  our  modern  version  of  it .


Only  and  somehow  when  we  deal  with  Israel , we  seem  to  be  totally  powerless  and  even  impotent , not  capable  of  influencing ,  or  enforcing  our  beliefs  and  our  interests .


Mr.  Kerry  our  secretary  of  State ,  is  only  the  last  victim  of  all  his preceding  secretaries  and  U.S  envoys , of continued  failure  , impasses  and  incapacities  to  apply  comprehensive  peace  initiatives , not  to  mention , as is  the  case  right  now , not  being  able  to  impose  a  cease  fire , when  the  matter  does  not  fully  suit  the  state  of  Israel .  Yet  we  keep  hiding  our  failures  and  frustrated  interventions  behind  nice  rhetoric  of ; " our  allies , and  standing  behind  the  only  democracy  in  the  area   !! " No  matter  how  ugly  this  so  called  democracy  behaves  or  acts ,  whether  it's  in  our  interests  or  totally  against .


Israel  has been  successful  in portraying  it's  actions  against  the  Palestinians  in  general , and  in  Ghaza  in  particular , as  a  war  against  Hamas , and  in  self  defense , for  the  strict  protection  of  it's  border  citizens .  The  simple  fact  is , that  it  is  another  lingering  and  obstinately  persistent  war  against  all  the  Palestinians , to  destabilize  and  demoralize  a  whole  population .  But , and  in  my  honest  opinion , I  believe  that  Israel's  chronic  use  of  force , as  it's  only  means of  reaching  it's  goals  is  failing , and  it  is  definitely  dragging  down  the  U.S  credibility , predominance  and  respect with it .


Might  Israel  and  behind  it  the  U.S. in  fact  be  bound  by  their  mutual  total  misreading  of  historical  facts , driving  them  both  to  ultimately  only  blind  destruction ??  Couldn't  we  , and  shouldn't  we  be  considering  other  imaginable  pasts , as  well  as  different  possible  futures  for  this  eternal  sad  conflict ??






Some  people  lately  here  in  the  States , have  been  calling  our  actual  president ; the  anti-Christ , would  they  dare  call  or  label  Mr.  Netanyahu  of  the  same ?? My  usual  many  thanks  to  all  my  good  readers .         

GHAZA .....

In  essence , an  occupying  power  for  many  decades , backed  by  the  best  equipped  army , and  the  total  backing  of  the  U.S.  might , and  war  machine ,  that  have  done  nothing , or  should  I  say  have  done  everything  in  it's  power  to  avoid  coming  to  terms  with  an  occupied  people  that  is  only  demanding  it's  legitimate  right  to  self  determination  and  dignity over  it's  own  lands .


All  of  the  other  aspects  of  the  situation  can  be  boiled  down  to  this  fact , as  any  side  that  rejects  Israeli  conditions  and  ambitions  is  automatically  labeled  an  enemy  of  peace , a  terrorist .


The  latest  Israeli  offensive  against  Ghaza  has  produced  a  death  toll  of  more  than  2100 , and  still  counting , mainly  civilians , children , and  sick  people  in  their  hospital  beds ,  more  injuries  than  many  major  wars , and  in  excess  of  260 thousand  child  traumatized , displaced   and  homeless , all  according  to  U.N.  figures  and U.S. media .


One  might  conclude  that  Israeli  reactions  and  actions  are  a  simple  everyday  occurrence ,  while  the  entire  world , and  especially  here  in  the  U.S.  largely  ignore  the  fact  that  the  people  of  Ghaza , who  have  no  protection  whatsoever ,  have  been  living  under  an  unacceptable  state  of  siege  for  the  past  8 years ,  and  that  the  Palestinian  people  as  a  whole  remains  stateless , and  have  been  living  under  a  very  brutal  military  occupation  accompanied  by  an  appalling  apartheid  system  for  the  past  47 years .


It  is  as  obvious  as  any  human  mind  can  conceive ,  a  political  problem , asking  strictly  for  a  political  solution , this  problem  has  been  going  on  for  long  decades , while  the  U.S.  is  blindfolding  itself  as  is  Israel , it  is  a  political  problem  and  the  solutions  have  to  be  political , never  a  militarily  nor  a  forced  solution  will  solve  this  situation .


Isn't  it  high  time  to  recognize  these  facts  and  seriously  work  on  imposing  a  fair  solution  to  both  people  and  both  countries ??  instead  of  harboring  only  one  side , and  it's  Neocons  policies  of  conquering  and  stealing  more  lands  and  livelihoods  under  whatever  excuses , and  the  ongoing  of  time .  We  simply  need  a  new  sheriff  in  town , and a  new broker , as  obviously , the  Israeli  leadership  is  in  total  havoc  and  mayhem ,   strongly  embarrassing  the  U.S.  foreign  credibility  and  it's  vital  interests . As  well  as  the  entirety  of  the  civilized  world .
