NO TITLE ...

According  to  hardline  existentialists  like  J.P. Sartre ,  whatever  we  all  do ,  ever , short  of  a  sudden  accident  leading  to  death , we  choose  to  do  it , and  are  responsible  for  having  done it .


You  therefore  have  chosen  to  pick up  reading  this  blog , you  are  responsible  for  what  you  have  done .  Sometimes  reading  this  blog  makes  one  feel  as  if  we  seem  to  have  drifted  ways  off  into  pointless  attitudes , reflections  and  speculations .


One  way  to  understand  the  whole  thing  better  is  to  consider  that  we  are  not  just  passive  observers  of   our  existence ,  the  world , our  world  is  constantly  subject  to  our  active  interpretation  of  it .


A  person  interprets  every  situation  according  to  his  desires , hopes , expectations  and  intentions .  The  motives , intentions  and  attitudes  we  choose  to  evaluate , are  only  reflections  of  our  own  ways  to  regulate  our  relations  with  the  world ,  ourselves  and  each  other .






These few  lines  could  form  a  good  sequel  to  the  previous 17th of Feb. blog , and  I  really  couldn't  find  a  suitable  title  to  it ,  could  anyone ??  thank you  all  for  your  time .

AUTHENTICITY , MOST OF THE TIME .......

Like  most  of  us ,  most  of  the  time , we  keep  our  sanity  and  sense  of  reality  and  perspectives , by  directing  our  attention  to  the  tasks  we  occupy  ourselves  with ,  to  the  daily  routine  of  doing  things , we  like  to  keep  always  busy , or  so  we  say .


We  believe , nonetheless , that  an  occasional  escapade  is  vital  if  a  person  is  to  achieve any  degree  of  integrity  or  authenticity , and  avoid  living  as  an  outsider  or  a  voyeur .                Like  everyone  else , some  of  the  time , we  must  pretend  and  play  at  being  what  we  are , because  we  cannot  simply  be  what  we  truly  are  all  the  time .


What  most  of  us  really  fear , hate  and  avoid  are  our  desires , even  if  by  doing  so  we  recognize  and  affirm  that  we  have  them ,  so  we  turn  to  our  diversions , it  is  one  thing  to  read  some  good  books , write  authentic  articles  and  blogs , and  feel  good  about  ourselves ,  another  thing  altogether  to  achieve  authenticity  in  real  life .


Authenticity  is  not  a  temporary  state  that  a  person  chooses  to  establish  at  any  chosen  particular  time ,  but  rather  a  permanent  stable  way  of  existence  that  we  must  constantly  maintain  by  continually   choosing  authentic  responses  to  any  situation .


We  all  strive  for  patterns of  behavior , writings  and  readings , that  we  might  adopt , to  bring  about  positive  changes , authentic  attitudes  in  our  relations  with  ourselves , the  world  and    other  people .


We  try  to  avoid  being  objects  in  the  world  of  others , to  be  for  others , or  be  in  danger  of  being  judged  by  others , people  nowadays  are  seldom  if  ever  truly  alone ,  especially  these  days  with  the  world  clearly  becoming  over  populated , each  of  us  is  constantly  facing  and  being  subjected  to  the  existence  of  other  people .

SYRIA ON MY MIND .......

  20  something  years  ago , the  elder  brother  of  the  actual  Syrian  president , Bassel ,  was  killed  in  a  car  accident  in  Damascus ,  at  the  time ,  and  even  though  the  father ,  Hafez , was  clearly  well  established  as  the  despot  of  Syria ,  most  people , and  I  for  one , could  only  think  of  the  loss  as  a  very  tragic  incident ,  I  felt  that  any  one  who  looses  his  or  her  30  years  old  son , is  dealt  a  very  harsh  blow  in  life ,  a  horrible  experience  for  any  father , family ,  regardless  of  what  or  who  you  are .


Few  days  ago ,  it  was  reported  that  young  Assad's  regime  and  special  intelligence  forces ,  managed  to  do  exactly  the  same , kill  a  27  years  old  son  of  a  well  known  Syrian  opposition  figure ,  the  same  occurred  with  a  young  30  years  old  British  physician ,  they  were  both  cold  bloodedly  tortured  to  death  in  one  of  the  many , many  prisons  and  detention  centers  under  their  authority .


What  were  these  regime  thugs  thinking  or  doing  ? and  what  were  their  leaders  proving ,  the  regime  was  well  above  that ,  the  regime  didn't  need  such  brutality , but  they  chose  to  totally  destroy  any  disapproving  voice  and  annihilate  all  dissenting  action .


The  regime  failed  in  everything , but  temporarily  preserving  itself  and  creating  a  failed  state  of  affairs .  When  sheer  force  and  brutality  are  applied  under  the  auspices  of  the  law, it  does  not  produce  legitimacy  nor  obedience . It  invariably produces  the  opposite .  Power , any  power  has  one  important  limitation , it  has  to  be  seen  and  accepted  as  legitimate , or  else  its  use  has  the  opposite  effect .


And  please , no  one  tell  me ; look  at  the  opposition  and  their  barbaric  behaviors , my  answer  would  be , that  the  said  Islamic  opposition  are  total  animals , but  obviously  our  young  president , his  regime  and  killing  machine , are  exactly  the  same , and  surely  behaving  worse  in  most  instances . NO  one  could  convince  me  that  all  opposing  people  in  Syria  are  only  represented  by  these  Islamic  elements , criminals  and  bandits .


Torturing  and  executing  children  as  young  as  10  and  11  years old ,  as  reported  by  UN  observers , in  many  of  the  regimes  prisons  and  interrogation  centers ,  and  by  the  thousands , is  as  animalistic  as  the  whoever  the  regime  is  clearly  harboring  and  accusing  of  terrorism .  Clearly both  the  regime  and  these  Islamic  thugs  are  two  sides  of  the  same  coin .








Syria  is  lately  back  in  the  news , I hope  I  was able  to  clarify some  important  features  of  whatever is  happening  over  there .  Thanks  to  all  as  usual .


     

SOME OF US ......

Some  of  us , mostly  poets  and  writers , philosophers  and  thinkers , gods , prophets , messengers , and  all  tyrannical  despots , live  and  host  more  than  one  personality  inside  their  bodies  and  minds .




Some  assert  that  five  or  six  other  personalities  live  and  coexist  within  them . Coexisting  harmoniously  or  not  so  peacefully  is another  matter . Some  go  up  in  numbers , of  different  adjectives  to  describe  themselves  and  their  various  personalities ,  and  put  a  name  on  each .


Few  of  us  though , belong  to  a  very  restrictive  group  who  strongly  believe  that  many  more  attributes  prevail  and  exist  within , up  to  ninety  nine  in  some  instances .


More  important  attributes ,  and  not  very  important  ones , features  and  properties  that  are  in  some  cases  abominable  and  monstrous , and  quiet  noble  and  elegant  in  some  other  instances .


Still , fewer  of  us , gods  or  despotic  rulers ,  tyrant  spouses  or  business  managers , going  back  in  time , or  existing  among  us  today , with  different  attitudes  and  styles , with  egocentric  sides  and  detestable  arrogance ,  share  one  great  attribute , we  never  seem  to  know  when  to  sit  aside , leave  the  scene  peacefully .  We  always  and  invariably  have  to  be  messy , we  ask for , and  have  to  be  totally  eliminated  and  annihilated  so  that  the  rest  can  go  on  with  their  lives  and  enjoy  some  peace .


Gods , tyrants , many  thinkers  and  bloggers , cannot  by  the  nature  of  their  multiplicities , just  go  their  own  ways , or  know  when  to  exit  the  stage , they  have  to  continuously  stir  things  and  mess up  the  existing  peace , we  all  blindly  and  pompously  pen  down , compile  and  sign  our  ideas ,  writings  and  deeds  regardless  of  consequences .
