WHO'S INTERESTS ARE WE SERVING ANY HOW ......

Senator  Menendez  with  a  handful  of  democrat  senators , plus  the  usual  Republican  senate  members  who  for  obvious  anti  administration  reasons , are  in  a  clear  path  of  torpedoing  the  U.S. foreign  policies  toward  Iran .

Lately  Israeli  media  announced  that  11 billion dollars  were  lost  with  the  ongoing  of  the  non  attacking  policy  resulting  from  the  negotiations  with  the  Iranian  regime .  Some  independent  experts  put  the  real  coast  to  the  military  and  the  war  industries  in  Israel  to  a  staggering  20 - 22 b.  dollars .

Anyone  could  guess  that  at  least  double  these  amounts   are  lost   here  in  the  U.S , for  the  military  and  weaponry  conglomerates'  loss  of  engagement .  By  shifting  the  policies  from  bombarding  and  total  war  with  Iran  to  a  negotiated  settlement  for  the  nuclear  problem , a  total  of  approximately  60 b.  Dollars  could  vanish  from  the  profits  of  both  Israeli  and  American  defense  industries  and  special  interests . 

If  a  bombardment  of  nuclear  targets  take  place , and  we  don't  simply  hug ,  kiss  and  say  goodbye  to  the  Iranians  afterwards ,  troops  will  be  needed  on  the  ground , for  an  all  the  way  war  over  the  whole  region ,   then  an  added  3  to 4 b.  dollars  daily  would  be  de- rigeur , not  to  mention  the  profits  to  some  other  conglomerates , like  the  energy  industry  by  having  a  huge  price  jump  of  oil  and  other  metals , I  would  leave  it  to  your  imagination  to  assess  the  profits .

Now   the  question  that  would  immediately  come  to  mind ,  is  the  Senator  and  his  colleagues  on  a  philosophical  and  strategical  new  policy  concern  , to  the  benefit  of  the  United  States  and  its  long  term  interests  ??  Or  is  it  all  a  very  nicely  orchestrated  maneuver  for  a  well  paid  affair ,  to  benefit  the  military  industries  and  special  interests  of  both  countries .

Israel's  very  conservative  parties  and  rulers , and  for  all  sorts  of  reasons , might  have  an  interest  and  a  need  to  go  ahead  with  bombarding  Nuclear  sites  in  Iran , then  leaving  it  all  to  the  U.S  ,  but  would  the  same  logic  apply  here , back  home !!  especially  now  that  America  and  the  world  are  almost  at  the  brink  of  coming  to a  negotiated  settlement  .

Wouldn't  the  military  industries  and  special  war  interests  of  both  countries  and  their  extensive  lobbies  contribute  hundreds  of  millions  of  Dollars  for  torpedoing  the  present  path  of  negotiations  and  reestablishing  a  real  bombarding  policy ,  and  possibly  a  war  to  follow .

The  derailment  of  our  present  peaceful   negotiations  with  Iran  ,  start  with  acts  of  legislation  exactly  of  this  sort  . When  was  it  in  our  political  history ,  in  the  hands  of  a  very  few  legislators  to  manipulate  the  system  and  dictate  our  foreign  policies , our  financial  interests , our  future ?? 

Are  these  special  interests  and  their  recipients  serious  about  destroying  our  very  delicate  and  still  vulnerable  livelihood  ,  world  stability  and  prosperity ,  just  to  further  augment  their  own  personal  wealth  and  power  ??




A  quick  remark  on  a  supper  dangerous  piece  of  legislation , that  is  cooking  quietly  in  the  U.S  senate .  thanks  again  for  your  attention .         

TWO VERY DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE ARAB CONFLICTS AND WARS .....

The  conflicts  and  wars  in  the  Arab  world , or  what  we  elected  to  call  the  Arab  spring , is  taking  new  and  distinct  definite  shapes ,  headings , and  raison d'etre  .  One  could  differentiate  clearly  between  two  major  lines  of  thought  and  action  on  the  ground .

 Egypt , Tunis , Libya  , Yemen  to  a  lesser  degree , and  the  north - western  African  two  countries  of  Algeria  and  Morocco  , on  one  side , where  the  conflict  is  clearly  between  the  Islamization  of  the  society   and  institutions , under  an  Islamic  sharia  constitution  and  traditions ,  only  leading  to  a  total  Musslem  dictatorship .  Facing  and  forcing  more  than  fair  percentages  of  their  populations , backed  by  their  armed  forces , the  whole  movement  belonging  to  upper  classes , merchants , and  the  bourgeois  middle  classes ,  defending  what's  left  of  a  semi  secular  way  of  life  and  views  for  their  self  governance  .  All  backed  by  ethnic  and  religious  minorities  , threatened  in  their  existence  by  Islamists  and  salafists .

The  second  scene  engulfing  Iraq ,  Syria , and  Lebanon ,  eventually  Jordan  and  the  Palestinian  population  in  their  pseudo  enclaves ,  Bahrain  and  Kuwait  form  the  hushed  and  secretive  side  of  the  conflict .  A  conflict  turning  obviously  and  steadily  into  a  sectarian  Sunni  and  Shiite  conflict  and  an  open  civil  war .  Alawites  and  other  smaller  minorities  are  necessarily  becoming  De facto   full  partners  with  the  Shiite  side .

Iran  , and  mainly  Saudi Arabia  on  the  other  hand  are  the  main  orchestrators  and  providers  for  these  wars , under  the  silent  and  approving  watch  of  the  bigger  players  and  supper  powers .

Iranian  expansionist  and  aggressive  policies  from  Iraq , already  under  full  Shiite  political  and  governmental  control ,  to  Syria  , landing  in  Lebanon  , are  angering  beyond  limits  , the  Saudis  and  Arab  Golf  states .  These  all  supper  conservative  Sunni  and  very  rich  fiefdoms , that  enjoyed  a  clear  hegemony  over  the  totality  of  the  Levant  for  the  past  many  decades  ,  and  exercising  a  clear  say  in  all  Islamic  and  Arab  affairs . These  Sunni  powers  cannot  stomach  any  Shiite  political  power  anywhere  in  the  Levant  areas , as  Shiite  political  power  didn't  exist  in  the  Levant  since  the  sixteenth  century .

ONE  could  have  different  opinions , and  intellectual  interferences in  those  situation , and  one  should .  But  I'd  rather  whole heartedly  , back  a  secular  and  modernistic  Resistance  taking  place  in  Egypt  and  it's  western  neighbors  , against  a  blind  popular  Islamization  , rather  than  have  and  take  sides , build  opinions  and  theories , in  a  conflict  between  two  very   antiquated   and  obsolete  factions  of  the  Islamic  faith ,  serving  only  pure  fanaticism   and  political  aspirations  of  its  smaller  chieftains  and  their  regional  masters .

Let  them  all  fight  each  other  to  total  annihilation  ,  before  we  can  turn  into  a  more  reasonable  conflict  that  could  lead  to  democratic  aspirations  and  secular  governance . A  conflict  worth  taking  sides  for , and  forming  opinions  about .




Had  to  share  with  you  all ,  my  pessimistic  look  for  the  whole  Arab  situation  and  especially  the  Middle -Eastern  parts  of  it .  thanks  for  your  attention .                 

SYRIA , SAUDI , THE MIDDLE-EAST..... . AND DEMOCRACY .

Lebanon , Syria , and  the  Middle-East  in  general , consequently  their  wars , their  internal  affairs ,  was  and  continues  to  be  a  considerable  part  of  my  life , interest , and  thinking . Much  of  what  I  learned  in  life , believe  in , ( and  no  longer  believe  in )  was  formed  and  forged  over  there . I  was  in  those  days  part  of  a  small  group  of  optimists  who  were  generally  criticized  for  being  too  liberals  and  a  bit  of  dreamers .

The  regimes  in  all  Middle -Eastern  countries , their  leaders  and  entourages , consider  themselves  always  far  too  grand  among  their  people , they've  invariably  valued  power  over  truth . They've  created  throughout  the  years , since  the  area's  independence , their  own  truth . And  in  power  there  was  their  truth .

NO  man  in  the  Syrian , Saudi , or  any  Middle- Eastern  hierarchy  whether   a  king  a  president , or  an  emir  , to  the  smallest  special  services  officer  and  agent , or  their  private  civilian  employees  or  militia- men , no  one  is  a  man  of  democracy , or  one  who  could  be  classified  as  one . Each  came  to  power  under  a  brutal  totalitarian  system . Each  is  still  more  given  to  handing  out  orders  and  decrees  than  negotiating  in  any  evolving  democratic  form , and  all  under  the  auspices  of  either , security ,  Islamic  rules , or both .

Democracy  is , for  all  of  them  rulers , kings  and  presidents , is  a  form  of  government  in  which  they  and  their  entourage  can  rule  and  dominate  others , never  a  form  of  pluralism  which  should  incorporate  the  many  forces  and  factions  that  constitute  their  countries .
Neither  of  these  men  have  risen  to  power  based  on  his  ability  to  listen  to  people  less  powerful  than  themselves .

All  Arab , and  most  Islamic  countries  , resist  all  implications  of  political , economical  or  educational  democracy , nations  that  only live  by  decree  and  by  diktat , enforced  through  sheer  brutality . It  is  a  world  where  someone  is  always  giving  orders , and  insults . As  everything  is  so  authoritarian  in  nature  , it is  normal  and  continual  to  cheat , steal , lie  and  be  brutal .

THE  real  and  pressant  question  would  be ;  is  there  enough  of  a  tradition  of  individual  responsibility  left  in  most  or  some  people  to  give  these  nations  a  beginning  of  future  stability  and  modernity  in  its  self  governance ??  As  it  might  be  for  years  to  come , where  the  longing  of  most  ordinary , cultured  and  intellectuals , to  become  part  of  something  which  had  been  denied  to  them  for  so  long , to  have  the  most  elemental  things  which  are  part  of  our  modern  world , basic  freedoms , dignity  and  democracy .




Again  the  Arab  world , which  I  don't  seem  able  to  detach  myself  from , my  thanks  to  all .        
 

MEN ........

From  all  times , men  hated  human  reality , men  would  for  ever  accommodate  themselves  badly  within  real  human  conditions . They  would  prefer  themselves  Gods , monuments , tyrants ,  men  always  pretended  to  be  more  solid , more  profound  and  significant , and  less  ephemeral  and  transient  than  reality .

From  all  times , yesterday  and  today , people  still  define  themselves  by  birth  place , family , clan , a  nation  or  religion . People  cling  to  all ,  but  not  their  real  nature  and  their  humanity . Obstinately  refusing  to  look  at  their  problems  as  an  identity , they  substitute  real  identities  by  ones  they  wish  to  be ,  identities  without  problems  and  devoid  of  reality .

People  like  to  consider  or  rather  conceive  themselves  as  Americans  or  Chinese , French  or  Arabs , Catholics ,  Musslems ,  Jews  or  homosexuals , rich  or  poor , as  if  they  could  totally  cover  their  faces  with  masks , or  a  dress  that  would  hide  their  human  condition  and  realities .

Only  " lucid  people "  know  that  human  trajectory  represent  a  combat  where  we  either  come  out  as  winners  or  losers , where  we  could  completely  lose  the  will  to  survive , lose  our  loved  ones , the  real  power  to  do , and  life  itself .

The  objective  in  life  is  not  to  change  the  human  condition   by  touching  immortality ,  omniscience , omnipotence  or  omnipresence ,  no ,  the  real  object  is  to  live  and  accommodate  to  the  human  condition .




Of  course  by " men " , I  mean  man  and  woman , corresponding  to  the  two  sexes , and  sexlessness . Thought  I  should  explain . My  thanks  to  all , and  my  salamat .     

OUR WAY OF LIFE .......

IT  is  important  in  life , at  least  sometimes , to  stop , sit  still and  let  things  become  clearer .

In  our  age  of  total  distraction , the  age  of  continuous  television  besiegement  and   bombardment  ,  the  constant  news  briefs and  messages  on  our  cell  phones , world  wide  today  many ,  many  trillions  text  messages  fly  between  our  mobile  phones  every  year ,  this  age  of  ours  where  the  cult  of  celebrity  idolization , and  constant  quick , instant  and  mostly  thoughtless  communication , tweeting  and  all  other  forms  of  self   expression  and  voicing .

The  need  for  contemplation  and  introspection  is  more  than  ever  essential  and  compelling  for  our  times .

Will  pursuing  more  and  more  digital  connectedness  make  us  smarter  and  more  creative  ??   Will  it  help  us  understand  ourselves  and  one  another  any  better ?? 

IN  this  age  and  time , when  we  make  distraction  and  amusement  an  only  way  of  life  , the  need  to  stop  and  think , reflect ,  could  become  the  greatest  tool  for  our  well  being  and  happiness .

Most  people  in  the  western  hemisphere   ,  and  the  developed  world  have  everything   they  need  except  for  the  most  important  of  it  all ,  the  time  to  stop  and  think ,  we  have  lost  the  custom  and  rituals  of  thought ,  and  the  practice   of  consciously  separating  what's  important  from  what  is  not .

This  everlasting  temptation  to  constantly  divert  and  amuse  ourselves  , our  current  way  of  life ,  is  systematically  destroying  and  erasing  our  abilities  for  a   more   crucially   engaged  and  rewarding  life .

FLYING HIGH .........

Although  never  classified  by  general  consensus  as  a  fatal  or eccentric  occupation , flying  is  now  recognized  to  be  by  no  means  harmful  , physically  or  mentally , simply  an  innocent  way  of  behaving  in  life .

This  uncontrollable  impulse  which  comes  to  most  people , sooner  or  later , to  go  and  fly , riding  those  quite  funny  flying  machines , hanging  in  the  skies ,  is  due  basically to  a  craving  for  excitement  , or  maybe  to  our  human  desire  to  mystify  ourselves  and  others ,  by  performing  aggressive  and  risky  actions .

Although  madness  is  in  my  honest  opinion , only  rarely  caused  directly  by  flying ,  it  is  maybe  significant  that  long  segments  of  flights  over  the  years , as  well  as  long  flights  in  general , could  consequently  be  considered  as  a  cause  of  minor  mental  instability .

Flying  did , through  the  years , teach  me  the  importance  of  geography  as  well  as  many  useful  geographical  conceptions . The  real  secret  of  geography  is  that  without  it , one  would be  quite  lost ,  hence  one  could  never  circumnavigate  the  globe . Only  by  means  of  geography , one  would  know  at  once  where  to  go  and  how  to  get  there .

Some  of  these  important  geographical  conceptions ,  the  equatorial  enigma  for  instance , which  describes  the  grand  basic  line  that  cuts  and  divides  the  earth  in  half , we  call  it  equator ,  which  is ,  as  everyone  admits , imaginary , invisible , invariable  and  very  warm . But  surely  navigable  and  totally  memorable . In  fact , and  generally  speaking ,  a  thoroughly  perfect  all  around  line .

Some  other  as  important  lines , affecting  our  capacity  to  find  places , we've  learned  to  call  them  longitudes  and  latitudes , everyone  knows  that  geography  would  never  be  the  same  again  if  these  serious  lines  were  not  there . We  could  be  at  a  total  loss  if  someone  did  erase  them  from  the  surface  of  the  earth .  They  are   so  comfortably  drawn  to  go  up  and  down  and  laterally , so  they  can  all  meet  at  the  north  and  south  poles , and  all  of  us  navigators  cling  to  the  belief  that  they  are  perfectly  parallel .

Just  imagine  how  fatal  and  eccentric ,  the  flying  business  would  be  without  those   geographical  conceptions  and  funny  lines .

BLOGS ...BLOGGERS ...AND ME

  

A  blogger  should  be  like  a  playwright , putting  people  on  stage , putting  ideas  on  stage , making  the   readers  interact  as  well  as  being  the  audience .

Being  the  half  serious  blogger , means  writing  the  things  one  love  to  think  about , analyze , and discuss , putting  them  down  even  on  days  when  you  don't  feel  like  writing  about  them .

Blogging  has  always  it's  own  trajectory , it  takes  one  places  we  did  not  intend  to  go , and  leaves  us  with  thoughts , ideas  and  findings  different  from  those  we  had  when  we  started , and  in  blogging  I  feel  I  have  undertaken  a  life  work  , a  task  of  telling  everybody  everything   every  one  knows .

Reading  my  blogs  , one  gets  the  feeling  that  history  is  at  it's  end .  We  could  almost  congratulate  ourselves  for  the  fact .

Your  humble  blogger  here ,   could  fall  under  the  adage : "  A  person  who  abandons  a  career  or  the  money  producing  life  , in  order   to  stay  at  home , take  care  of  his  family  , love  and  cherish  his  wife ,  cultivate  friendship , and  occasionally blog ,  is  considered  not  to  be  living  up  to  his  potential  . AS  if  a  job  title  and  salary  are  the  sole  measures  of  human  worth .
